 Satellite Internet For Aspiring Musicians

When it comes to staying connected, the internet has been an incredible tool. But for musicians, solo artists, and those with bands, it has become something even more. It's part fan club, part marketing machine, and a whole lot of fun in the meantime. Those who are musically inclined are able to find band members immediately through sites like Craigslist, can network with other bands and plan tours with Myspace, and are free to post their own original music everywhere from Facebook pages to Bandcamp. And that's not even getting into the actual internet, where people have their own webpages for bands and record labels alike.

All of this action is starting to get to those who are located outside of big cities. Rather, people in areas where until recently, there wasn't even satellite internet, only dial-up as an option for getting online. And because a whole lot of aspiring musicians and bands live places other than in big cities, this means a lot of differences in the way that music is promoted and shared.

For one thing, it is a whole lot easier for anyone to plan an entire tour now with satellite internet. With a dial-up connection, loading countless different Myspace pages and handling things like uploading demos and trying to stream audio would be impossible. Because dial-up is not designed to handle that sort of bandwidth transfer, it would take forever to even find out if the club that a friend recommended to you in Austin was going to be open and interested in your type of music. But with a faster connection, like satellite, it is a whole lot easier to get through multiple pages in one sitting, to figure out what exactly sounds like a good idea, and to start making arrangements as soon as possible.

Likewise, those musicians who live far away from printing facilities and who don't have all the time in the world to drive to the nearest CD pressing plant can make use of a faster satellite internet connection to get valuable work done for their bands. Because satellite makes uploading and downloading files a lot easier and faster, you can send business card designs and CD art templates to a printer who can then mail them back to your PO box, rather than having to drive all the way into town to work with a printer who is more accustomed to doing small-scale stuff. The same can be said for handling other parts of the band, like getting t-shirts printed if you are to that level, or even for ordering must-have pieces of equipment before tour. Satellite makes it a lot easier to get connected all over, no matter where you are located.

So if you're trying to make it big as a musician from a more rural location and realize that you need the power of the internet behind you, then consider that a faster version of that internet, like satellite, will make taking over the charts--or at least booking a small tour--a whole lot easier than ever before.
