 Help With Hair Loss

Hair loss also known as balding is perhaps the most widely experienced and most frustrating condition known to mankind. Let's face it our hair is part of our identity and plays a major role in our self esteem. When we see a person who is starting to lose his/her hair most of us associate it with aging or poor health. In this informational article titled "Help with Hair Loss" we will explore the most common type of hair loss and offer a few useful suggestions for help with hair loss.

The most common type of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia or male pattern baldness in men, and female pattern baldness in women. Some estimates have androgenetic alopecia responsible for as many as 90% of all instances of hair loss.

While many types of hair loss are simply temporary, androgenic alopecia is not. This condition is a relentless foe that if left unchallenged will lead to baldness in men and extreme thinning in women. The condition itself is a combination of genetics and a slightly elevated level of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) caused by the hair mediating enzyme 5 alpha reductase type 2. So what we have is a primary condition (androgenetic alopecia) which drives the balding process which can be aggravated by a number of contributing factors such as poor nutrition or meager circulation in the scalp.

So, what can be done!

Sadly, if you are one of the many people who has already parted with most of your hair your options will be limited to expensive transplant surgery, hairpieces, or wigs. The good news is that the quality of each one of these options continues to improve and the days of seeing one of your fellow co workers with the family cat glued to his scalp are long gone.

On the other hand if you are just starting to notice a bit of follicle impairment then help with hair loss is a real possibility.

Let's explore four ideas.

* Minoxidil - Minoxidil is FDA approved for both men and women and is widely available over the counter. Studies indicate it is helpful in re-growing hair in approximately 30 of cases. The real advantage is in its ability to slow hair loss about 90% of the time.

* Natural herbal oils - Oils such as pumpkin seed, linseed and almond oil are just few of the ingredients used for topical hair stimulation. These blends are very safe, affordable, and are readily available.

* Diet - While diet alone will not cause your hair to grow like a wolf man gone wild it can help in creating an environment that supports hair growth. Important hair vitamins are B6, B12, biotin, and possibly vitamin E.

* Exercise - If blood flow to the scalp is poor your will not receive the nutrition it needs to flourish.

Additionally, in recent years there have been a number of products who have combined the power of DHT blocking ingredients, nutrition, and the hair stimulating power of minoxidil with good success. If you are looking for an affordable hair regrowth option this is an area of treatment worth considering.
