Increasingly, men are taking more of an interest in how they look, and this includes the clothes they wear. Online blogs have sprung up all over the internet in recent years devoted to trends in men's fashion. Menswear trends may not change as often as women's or as dramatically, however, many men will now proudly confess to being followers of fashion!
One trend that is big for both men and women in 2010/2011 is the military inspired trend. Overkill is not the way forward here but you can pick out small details that give a subtle nod towards this trend â think classic military here with clothes in army green and naval forces blue. Military detailed coats look good especially the very long ones and aviator boots are very popular at the moment too. If these looks feel too young or too much for you lots of men's knitwear this season have military touches to the shoulders or military inspired motifs.
Another popular trend at the moment is the tailored look and yes this means that suits are back in style. The trend in tailoring in recent years has been for the âskinny' look but this is now going out of fashion and is being replaced by a more masculine look. That's not to say that boxy looking suits are back in style but emphasis on broad shoulders with slim trousers is the look for now.
A look that can be adopted by men of all ages is the oversized look. This was seen on the catwalks in big chunky knitwear, oversized beanies, and long heavily knitted scarves that wrap round the neck several times. This is a cool and casual urban look that can be utilized for everyday wear.
Hats continue to be big news in men's fashion and can add the finishing touch to your outfit or give your look a stylish quirk. Beanie hats remain popular and look good whilst also being warm to wear over the winter months. Another hat trend that will be welcomed during the cold weather season is the fur trapper hat but for more of a city look go for the classic traditional drivers cap that is bang on trend at the moment.
A trend for the young the hip or the very brave is velvet. This was all over the catwalks for this season but it's not a look everyone can pull off. Velvet showed up in entire suits made from the fabric but also on the collars or lapels of men's jackets for the autumn winter season. If you like the look but don't want to go the whole way then the latter is the perfect option to subtly incorporate velvet into your wardrobe.
