 Fashion Trends in Old Days

Fashion has become the most attention for people in modern time whether it comes to men or women of all ages. Let's see what clothes and make-up people were fancy in the old days.

Changing skin color

Nowadays, it is fashion trend that Western women wish a dark tan while women in ancient times would love smooth and porcelain white skin. At that time, they believed that only rich people could afford  to have pale white skin while others are tanned. In the 1920s, Coco Chanel  came back from the French Riviera and her skin became wild tanned which was highly appreciated.

Women started pining for darker skin after the lovely Coco Chanel came back from the French Riviera sunburnt.

Tights

While tights are being used by almost women in modern days, they were actually worn by men from every class centuries ago.

Artificial nails

The ancient Egyptians beautified themselves from ivory, gold and bone.

Bleached Hair

Hair bleaching was seen in Venice long time before the bleached blonds make fashion storm over Hollywood.

Heavy eyeliner

Make-up eyeliner seems to be of recent time, but it dated back to the ancient Egyptian. People at that time decorated their eyes to protect them from harsh desert sun and “evil eye”.

Gray haired young women

Lady Gaga and Kelly Osbourne may be addicted to gray hair; however, this hair trend was extremely popular in the 18th century.

Colored wedding dresses

For most brides of the 20th century, wedding dress is often white. However, the trend originated from the mid-1800s when Phillipa of England was the first to wear and in 1840 when Queen Victoria showed off white wedding gown.

Platform shoes

Most people believed that platform shoes were really hot in the 1970’s. In fact, this kind of shoes was around approximately 600 years old.

Skinny jeans/pants

Skinny jeans used to be the most widespread fashion of the 2000′s. However, the trend was of attention from the 1950′s.
